Memorials: Remembering Our Loved Ones

It is a part of our custom and holy tradition to remember those who have gone before us. We do this for a number of reasons. We pray for the rest of the departed, we ask that God’s mercy be upon them and us, and we take the time to love and grieve for those who are no longer here at our side. But springing always with these mingled memories and prayers is the rich vein of hope, our hope and our faith that God does not forget the dead but carries them close to Him making them part of His divine life. We offer memorial services routinely, and though there are many different local customs, most often these prayers are made on the fortieth day after the passing away and annually thereafter. If you would like to have these prayers offered for your loved ones, please contact the church to speak with the priest. You will find more information on this service in the pamphlet below.
